The Mallorcan coast begins to fill with bathers in the month of May. The water is still cold for many, but other brave souls don't miss the opportunity to take the first dips of the year.

Mallorca's beaches present different typologies: sand, rocks, rounded stones, long stretches, or small coves... At Balear Invest , we've taken a small tour of the 7 Mallorcan beaches you shouldn't miss this May.

And if midday or evening catches you returning from one of these areas, remember that we also know where the best restaurants on the island are located.

Surrounded by pine trees and mountains: Cala Agulla

Cala Agulla is in the municipality of Capdepera , about 80 kilometers from Palma. It's a very beautiful beach, surrounded by mountains and pine trees, with crystal clear waters of a very light blue. The sand and rocks mix at the shore, so you need to be a bit careful not to stumble or accidentally kick one of the stones.

It's a good place for any water sport or swimming, and you can also take a short hike to Cala Mesquida, making a brief stop, if desired, at Cala Moltó. The latter beach is frequented by people who practice nudism.

Formentor Beach, Mallorcan Paradise

It's one of the beaches most associated with the Mallorcan landscape: narrow, surrounded by pine trees, and located on the small Formentor peninsula. The views of Pollença Bay are spectacular, and precisely from this point, a boat departs for the sea crossing.

If you're traveling by car, we advise taking the opportunity to make stops along the way to enjoy the wonderful views and the rugged nature of this area of Mallorca.

Cala Santanyí, White Sand, Blue Water

Cala Santanyí is one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca because it possesses an idyllic, almost cinematic environment. Here, the Mediterranean breeze is warm and almost constant, and the turquoise water comes and goes along the shore, giving this cove the title of one of the best on the southwest coast of Mallorca.

As it's usually more crowded in summer, we recommend visiting it off-season. Additionally, here you can practice a multitude of water sports, such as diving, kayaking, kayaking, or paddle surfing.

It's almost mandatory to visit Es Pontàs, which is just beyond the beach area.

Cala Estellencs, to Enjoy Tranquility

Cala Estellencs is a small and very peaceful beach, even in the summer season. One of its attractions is that it has some caves that can be explored, and the cove is very easy to access. Swimming and diving in this area is wonderful because the rocks are the natural habitat of many marine animals.

Additionally, it's one of the beaches where you can enjoy one of the best sunsets in Mallorca.

Es Carbó, a Virgin Beach

It stretches for over a kilometer on the southern tip of Mallorca and is one of the beaches that remain almost virgin. It's located in La Colonia , in the municipality of Campos, and can be reached by boat or by walking along a promenade that connects the coastal nucleus with the beach.

It has a system of protected dunes that make Es Carbó an even more special place. The sand is very fine and white, and the sea is so blue that it almost seems like it's from another place.

It's important to come to this beach well prepared, with enough water and provisions, as there are no beach bars or stalls where you can buy anything.

Canyamel Beach, Golden Sands

It's located on the northeastern tip of Mallorca and has an extension of about 300 meters in length. The sand, of a warm golden tone, extends to a rocky coast area, which has a pine forest behind it.

It's the perfect place for diving because the water is always clear, and there are many places to observe the seabed. Canyamel Beach offers some extra amenities, such as sun lounger rental, restaurant service, and rental of different equipment for water sports.

Cala Mesquida, Perfect for Surfers

Cala Mesquida is a fantastic beach about six kilometers from Cala Ratjada . It's one of the most beautiful beaches in the northwest of the island and one that offers ideal conditions for surfing.

It offers bathers all kinds of services and facilities, and fine sand that makes this cove one of the most visited, both by tourists and residents of the urbanized area.

There's a lookout tower on top of the hill, which offers views over the entire beach and is worth a visit.

In Mallorca, there are 262 beaches and coves, which reach 50 kilometers in total length. Stay tuned to this blog because very soon, we'll present a new selection of Mallorcan natural paradises where you can spend a day, at some point in the coming months.
