6 plans for things to do in Mallorca in spring (beyond the beach)
30 March, 2026
Thinking of a secluded cove with crystal-clear water is often inevitable when Mallorca is mentioned, especially for those who have never been. What some people don’t realise is that Mallorca is much more than its beaches. From unique mountain landscapes to hiking routes and gastronomic experiences that allow you to savour a piece of the island.
So, if you live in Mallorca, or are planning to visit and aren’t sure what to do, we invite you to discover the plans we have prepared for you.
1. Visits to local wineries
Wine production in Mallorca has reached internationally recognised levels, and on our beloved island we have different native grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Gorgollassa or Callet, among many others that contribute to the uniqueness of our wines.
One of the most famous wineries is Bodega Ribas, in Consell, with over 300 years of history. It offers a tour of the vineyards and winery, where they explain the history and winemaking process, as well as a wine tasting with food pairing and a visit to the winery’s restaurant, where you can try some local dishes. Another with great national prestige is Macià Batle, where you can enjoy a very similar tour, as well as see the winemaking facilities and learn about all the processes that turn grapes into this prized drink.
2. Boat trips along the west coast
The title of this blog promised plans beyond going to the beach, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the Mediterranean coastline in a different way.
The west coast features unique landscapes known for their dramatic cliffs. If you’re looking to explore the sea in a more exclusive way, there are places such as Port d’Andratx where you can hire a boat with a skipper, so your only concern is relaxing while you sail. During the trip, you’ll be able to enjoy hidden coves or cliffs such as those of Sa Dragonera, and for the more adventurous there are many diving spots, such as the beaches of Sant Elm.
3. Hiking routes in the mountains
If you prefer the mountains, Mallorca also has something special for you. There are countless routes where you’ll enjoy views you won’t find anywhere else. Some of the best-known routes on the island include the Pedra en Sec Route, which connects several villages such as Deià and Valldemossa; the Camí de s’Arxiduc, which offers incredible panoramic views across the island; and finally the Torrent de Pareis, famous throughout Mallorca. These are just some of the most popular routes, although Mallorca has more than 200 officially recognised hiking trails.
4. Exploring the history and culture of Palma
The island of Mallorca is home to centuries of history, and one of the best ways to discover it is by visiting Palma’s historic centre. Some of the most important landmarks include Palma Cathedral, also known as La Seu, and the Royal Palace of La Almudaina. If you want to explore local culture, you can visit Es Baluard Museum of Contemporary Art, located in a former defensive fortress. It houses a collection of local artists such as Miquel Barceló and Rafel Joan. Another way to enjoy culture is by visiting CineCiutat, where films are shown in their original version, including independent cinema and occasional screenings by local artists such as Joan Maura.
5. Tour of the Santanyí market
A great way to discover our gastronomy is by exploring the Santanyí market, held every Wednesday and Saturday. There you can visit different stalls to sample Mallorcan products such as cured meats, artisan cheeses and local oils. You’ll also find places where you can try some of our most traditional dishes. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a traditional setting.
6. Stroll through the gardens of S’Hort del Rei
After visiting the cathedral, one of the best things you can do is take a walk through the gardens of S’Hort del Rei, located just a few metres from La Seu. There you can relax and wander through one of the liveliest areas of Palma, near Jaime III.
After discovering these plans, it’s only natural to want to explore Mallorca a little more. This island is an iconic place full of charm.
