Restaurants in Mallorca for Seaside Dining
25 June, 2024
If eating is a pleasure, doing so by the sea, without worrying about shopping, tricky recipes, cooking times, or cleaning up the kitchen and dishes, is a luxury accessible to everyone.
In Mallorca, the cuisine is Mediterranean, seasonal, and product based. Many coastal restaurants, where you can dine with views of the beach or port, offer a distinctly fusion experience.
At Balear Invest, we love recommending the most emblematic places in Mallorca, and today we want to take a short tour of the best seaside restaurants.
Paellas by the Sea
In the port of Andratx, with a beautiful terrace and great service, you’ll find Can Pep, an ideal spot to watch the best sunsets. It's also one of the restaurants where you can order paella ciega, one of the most popular varieties, also known as arroz del senyoret. In this dish, everything is edible—there are no bones or shells, making it perfect for enjoying with children.
In the port of Sóller, there's Ses Oliveres Port de Sóller, which boasts a well-appointed terrace with views of the beach and bay, providing a pleasant escape from daily life. Here, you can try the magnificent seafood paella, though the menu offers all kinds of rice dishes. Don’t miss the chance to check out their fish display to choose from the fresh, high-quality seafood always available for diners.
For those who prefer a Beach Club, we recommend visiting Can Gavella. Located at Playas de Muro, in the Ses Casetes des Capellans area, it offers two types of paellas: seafood or mixed.
Near Cala Barques in Alcudia is a restaurant named after this beautiful cove. It’s right on the beach, so you can leave your towels and umbrellas in the sand within sight of the terrace, and they serve paellas that have earned an excellent reputation in the area.
Choices in Palma
In Mallorca’s capital, you can choose virtually any type of cuisine from the many options available in the port and along the seafront.
Can Eduardo is one of the most iconic. Located right above the fish market where the catch is auctioned every morning, this restaurant boasts one of the best views of the fishing port and the cathedral of Mallorca. It’s a haven for seafood lovers, but they also serve excellent paellas, bouillabaisse, lobster, and grilled fish.
If you enjoy fusion cuisine and haven’t yet tried Mediterranean and Asian cooking, we recommend visiting Mar de Nudos, an elegant seaside restaurant where you can pair salt-baked gilt-head bream, for instance, with sushi, or enjoy the chef’s combinations of both culinary traditions.
At Portitxol, a charming old fishing village, is Ola del Mar, renowned for its fresh fish, rice dishes, seafood, and pasta. It features a lovely terrace overlooking the sea where you can savour a perfect lobster stew or simply prepared lobsters.
The Most Unique on the Mallorcan Coast
In Palmanova, we’ve found the most authentic Thai food, with all the chefs hailing from Bangkok. My Thai is on the beachfront, offering a spacious terrace with sea views and a comprehensive menu showcasing the best of Thai cuisine.
If you’re in Santa Ponsa, take a stroll around the yacht club and stop for lunch or dinner at 7 Fuegos. Their Mediterranean-style cuisine is uniquely interpreted, with a menu featuring everything from lamb empanadas to paellas, grilled meats, various guacamoles, and homemade bread rolls.
In Cala Rajada, you’ll find Bolixe, a restaurant where you can enjoy natural cuisine using the best seasonal ingredients, serving grilled meats of excellent quality. You can experience their gastronomy in miniature through tapas paired with beer or wine, or complete dishes that never fail to impress, such as foie gras blocks with Pedro Ximénez or broken eggs with sobrasada.
We conclude our culinary tour at Colonia de Sant Jordi, where among many other options, you’ll find Cassai Beach Club, right on the beach with wonderful views of the Cabrera islet. Their cuisine is Mediterranean but with a modern twist that makes their rice dishes, meats, and fish taste a little different.
